In this episode of #HistoriasQueMolestan (Ep. 117), I chat with Angie d’Erico about my journey as a solo traveler in the Middle East, especially Syria and Lebanon.

We dive deep into the injustices surrounding the negative media portrayal of the region, contrasting it with the incredible hospitality and kindness of its people—who, despite being among the most welcoming in the world, often receive the worst treatment from the rest of it.

Lebanon was my gateway to the Middle East, the first place where I encountered such warm and generous people, amid the 2021 economic collapse, with its fuel shortages, blackouts, and skyrocketing inflation. Syria was the final chapter of this journey in the région, and I was lucky to travel through Syria right after the weakening of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, witnessing the reality from an outsider’s perspective while meeting extraordinary people once again

This episode is a deep reflection on privilege, resilience, and human connection.

In this episode of Change the Office, host San Alegria welcomes me to discuss how exploring the world has helped me develop flexibility as a power skill—an essential ability for both personal and professional growth.

I share my experiences traveling through Asia and the Middle East, highlighting how these journeys have challenged me to step out of my comfort zone, embrace new cultures, and see the world from different perspectives. I also talk about the misunderstood nature of the Middle East, encouraging listeners to question stereotypes and approach the region with an open mind.

The conversation explores the unexpected lessons I’ve learned through travel, including how to adapt to unforeseen situations, develop resilience, and cultivate a more innovative and problem-solving mindset.

I hope this episode helps demystify misconceptions about the Middle East and inspires others to embrace travel as a tool for growth.
