In this episode of #HistoriasQueMolestan (Ep. 117), I chat with Angie d’Erico about my journey as a solo traveler in the Middle East, especially Syria and Lebanon.

We dive deep into the injustices surrounding the negative media portrayal of the region, contrasting it with the incredible hospitality and kindness of its people—who, despite being among the most welcoming in the world, often receive the worst treatment from the rest of it.

Lebanon was my gateway to the Middle East, the first place where I encountered such warm and generous people, amid the 2021 economic collapse, with its fuel shortages, blackouts, and skyrocketing inflation. Syria was the final chapter of this journey in the région, and I was lucky to travel through Syria right after the weakening of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, witnessing the reality from an outsider’s perspective while meeting extraordinary people once again

This episode is a deep reflection on privilege, resilience, and human connection.
